Why We Built The Laundry Spot
If you’ve ever done laundry at a laundromat in the Youngstown area, you know what it’s like. Machines that are older than you are. Coin slots that jam. Floors that haven’t been mopped since last week. Nobody around to help. You put your clothes in and hope for the best.
That’s not what laundry day should feel like. And that’s exactly why The Laundry Spot exists.
Ridge Awadallah grew up in the Mahoning Valley. He’s not from somewhere else coming in to flip a business – this is home. He saw the same run-down laundromats everyone else saw, and instead of complaining about it, he decided to do something about it. He put nearly a million dollars of his own money into building The Laundry Spot from the ground up because he believed this community deserved a real facility, not another afterthought.
That kind of investment in a laundromat is almost unheard of. Most laundromat owners buy used machines, rent a cheap space, and hope for the best. Ridge went the opposite direction – brand-new commercial machines, a fully renovated building, touchscreen technology on every washer and dryer, a concession area with snacks, coffee, and lottery tickets, free Wi-Fi, games for kids, and a facility that gets cleaned continuously throughout the day. He built the place he’d actually want to do laundry in.
The Laundry Spot was featured in Mahoning Matters when it opened on Mahoning Avenue, and the response from the community has been overwhelming. Over 355 five-star Google reviews later, it’s clear that Youngstown was waiting for exactly this.
Every machine in the building is brand-new American-made commercial equipment – the same machines you’d find in hotels and hospitals. They clean better, spin faster, and last longer than anything at another laundromat in the area. Ridge didn’t cut corners because the whole point was to build something the valley could be proud of.

The Laundry Spot isn’t run by a corporation or an absentee investor. It’s a family business, and when you walk in, you’ll probably meet the family.
Ridge
OwnerRidge’s journey started in March 2020. Funding hurdles, location issues, rising costs – none of it stopped him. He’s passionate about making a positive impact and contributing to the revitalization of the Mahoning Valley. His vision goes beyond one location – he wants to ensure every surrounding county has a laundromat as clean, modern, and high-tech as The Laundry Spot. He won’t stop until that vision is realized and he’s made a lasting difference in every community he touches.
Sam
The Heart of The SpotRidge’s dad and the person you’ll see every single day when you walk in. Sam is at The Laundry Spot from open to close, greeting customers, helping people pick the right machine, and making sure the facility stays spotless. If you’ve read our Google reviews, you know Sam – customers mention him by name more than anything else. He sets the tone for the whole place.
Macy
Wash & FoldRidge’s sister and the person behind your perfectly folded laundry. Macy runs the wash and fold pickup and delivery service – she makes sure your clothes are sorted right, washed with care, and folded neatly before they come back to your door. You’ll also see her daughter Harper around the facility when school’s out, keeping the family atmosphere alive.
When you use The Laundry Spot, you’re not giving your money to a chain. You’re supporting a local family that put everything they had into building something real for this community. That’s why the service is personal. That’s why Sam knows his regulars by name. And that’s why we care whether your experience is good – because our name is on it.
What We Offer
We built The Laundry Spot to cover every laundry need in the Mahoning Valley:
- Self-Serve Laundromat – walk in any time between 8am and 9pm. Commercial washers from 20 lb to 100 lb, high-efficiency dryers, touchscreen controls, card pay only. Last wash at 8:30pm.
- Free Wash & Fold Pickup and Delivery – we come to your home anywhere in the valley, pick up your laundry, wash and fold everything, and deliver it back within 24 hours. $1.75/lb, 30 lb minimum.
- Drop-Off Service – bring your bag in on the way to work, pick it up clean and folded on the way home.
We serve over 20 communities across Mahoning and Trumbull counties, from Youngstown to Warren, Niles to Boardman, and everywhere in between.
